Class Status: Slave Occupation: If possible, I would love for her to be a land slave of some sort, but if that doesn't fit, my second choice would be the Mulciber Teaching Hospital. Current Residence: Either a farm, or if she is working at the Hospital - the muggleborn flats. Appearance Height: 5'4" Weight: 110 pounds Build: Luna has always had a thin frame but these days she tends to look slightly malnourished due to her current situation. Eye/Hair Color: Silvery Grey // Dirty blonde Style of Dress: In school, Luna was well known for her odd style of dress and her homemade jewelry. When not in her uniform, Luna loved to dress in bright colors and her clothes always contained some sort of odd design. She had self-made hats that were large and (sometimes) noisy. She also often wore radish earings and a necklace that she made from discarded Butterbeer caps. These days, Luna doesn’t have nearly as much freedom to wear what she would prefer. Instead she dresses quite simply and, when she can, she will attempt to use any available resources such as plants or, as she calls them, neglected treasures to construct jewelry. Unfortunately, she can never seem to hold onto her work for very long. PB Choice: Hannah Murray or Sara Forestier Personality Non-Magical Strengths: Luna possesses a rather unique and creative way of looking at the world. She has a natural curiosity and an ability to think outside the box that puts her in a position to find solutions that most people would never think of on their own. She has a very artistic mind, eager to create in any way she can. She fashions her own jewelry and even painted a large portrait of her friends on her bedroom wall. Her eccentricities and odd style of dress have often made her a subject of ridicule, but Luna has never allowed her peers to bring her down. She is confident in her beliefs and doesn’t seem bothered that most people hold a rather negative opinion of her. Most of the time, Luna appears calm and serene and she rarely loses her head in a time of crisis. She speaks honestly and can be quite empathetic, providing a calming presence to friends in their time of need. Finally, with few friends, Luna is forever loyal to those that she does possess. Non-Magical Weaknesses: Luna has an uncanny habit of getting directly to the heart of the matter. And while she’s quite good at understanding the core problem, she can be almost blunt in her execution. She isn’t purposely harsh (she simply thinks she’s stating the truth) but she doesn’t necessarily sugarcoat things either. She’s been known to say some rather outrageous things, and sometimes she doesn’t quite understand the severity of what she is saying or why people react the way that they do. She has a tendency to make people uncomfortable and tends to get bored by plain, everyday conversation. She’s much more interested in what can’t be explained and her eyes will wander as she loses interest in a conversation. Finally, Luna has a very stubborn nature. She doesn’t take kindly when someone says her own beliefs aren’t real and will often argue until she feels she has proven her point or the person changes their mind. This faith in the unseen makes her slightly naive and poses the question of whether or not she truly understands the reality of a given situation. Magical Strengths: Luna’s gentle presence and love for nature has always led to top marks in both Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. Luna has also always excelled in classes that didn’t require a strict discipline, so often it is what she is doing or how she is taught that will determine how quickly (if at all) she will succeed. Finally, under the guidance of Harry Potter, Luna began to do fairly well in defense and even managed to produce a Patronus. Magical Weaknesses: Luna tends to struggle with magic that requires a strict discipline. It’s not that she doesn’t possess the capability but rather the idea that she likes the freedom to interpret and create. She grows bored following something linear like a Potions recipe or a strict wand movement, and would rather be given the chance to try and do or create something new as she likes to believe there is more than one way of doing something. She can certainly rise above this if the situation calls for it (such as when battling Death Eaters), but she doesn’t like to. Bad Habits: Luna has the habit of sticking her wand behind her ear and she doesn’t always pay attention to what is going on around her. She doesn’t always follow directions in the way they were intended, sometimes leading to unintentional results. Her tendency to speak the truth can also make people uncomfortable and has been known to get her into a spot of trouble. Vices: Luna has always had a soft spot for sugary sweets. Feelings on Muggleborns: Well it depends, doesn’t it? If you’re talking about Hermione Granger then she’s quite nice although a bit narrow minded if you ask Luna. One of her dorm mates was a Muggleborn, but Luna never found her particularly interesting, especially after she began to suspect that she was one of the people that had been taking her shoes. Really though, Luna doesn’t particularly care about blood status, but rather what type of person you are. Feelings about the Ruling Class: She doesn’t particularly like what they stand for, although she fears that some may have had the misfortune of being affected by the Wrackspurts. Feelings about the Dark Lord: Luna always has and always will support Harry Potter. She firmly believes that Lord Voldemort is wrong and does not approve of his actions. He is not a person that should have power and she hopes he loses it very soon. First Impression in 10 words or less: “A bit odd, isn’t she?” What song would describe them? Upside Down by Jack Johnson Anything else significant? History Where were they born? Devon, England What was their family's economic status? Lower middle class. The Lovegoods always had enough money to get by but have never been able to afford any luxuries. Where did they grow up? The Lovegoods own a home on top of a hill in Ottery St. Catchpole. The house resembled a giant chess rook and contained perfectly circular rooms with brightly painted furniture. The house very much reflected the Lovegoods' personalities but was unfortunately destroyed during the Second Wizarding War. Where is their family now? Lorraine Lovegood (mother; deceased) - Lorraine Lovegood was a bright witch that shared many of her husband's interests. She enjoyed experimenting but unfortunately her projects weren't always entirely safe. She was killed when one of her attempts backfired. Luna was just nine years old. Xenophilius Lovegood (father) - Luna, unfortunately, has not seen her father since the start of her sixth year as she was brought to Malfoy Manor while traveling home for the Christmas Holidays. She knows that he was sent to prison after attempting her release in exchange for Harry Potter, but she doesn't know if he was ever let go. Why were they sorted into their house? Luna may not be the typical student but she does enjoy learning and loves to explore and discover the world around her. She understands that there is more than one way to approach a problem and has a knack for spotting the more unique solutions before others might. She doesn't always have the discipline to perform magic perfectly, but she is always willing and open to try. Do they have children? Tell us about them. N/A What has happened in their life between the Battle of Hogwarts and now? Luna was a known member of Dumbledore’s Army and actively supported Harry Potter and his friends through out the war effort. After the final battle and the creation of the new government, Luna attempted to evade capture and continued on with the resistance. She was able to do this for several months but Luna is the type of person that does not blend in very well. One mention of a Crumple-Horned Snorcrack in front of the wrong person and suddenly she was back in the hands of Death Eaters. She was made a slave and spent the better portion of a year working on the Magical Maintenance Crew before there was finally a transfer of ownership. Despite it all though, Luna has managed to remain optimistic. She firmly believes that Harry Potter is still alive and well and being protected by a group of the Slimy Crud Datherims while hiding out. Not that she ever mentioned that last part. She would hate to turn in a friend. Any other significant events in their life? Luna lost her mother at the age of nine and was a witness to her death. This event had a profound affect on both Luna and her father, and the two became significantly closer as a result. Luna always took her father’s word as fact and the pair often spent their free time together fishing and looking for rare creatures that many believe don’t exist. At Hogwarts, Luna spent the better part of four years on her own, not finding true friends until her fourth year. She believed Harry’s story about Voldemort’s return, became one of the D.A.’s most active members, and helped organize an interview for the Quibbler so that Harry could share his story. She also accompanied Harry and his friends to the Department of Mysteries where she fought against Death Eaters. In her fifth year, Luna expressed her disappointment when she learned that there would no longer be regular meetings of Dumbledore’s Army. In spite of this news, she still checked her old coin regularly as she was one of the few members to fight off the Death Eaters that invaded Hogwarts directly following Dumbledore’s death. Protected by a potion, Luna exited the battle relatively unscathed and later attended Dumbledore’s funeral. The following September, Luna returned to a very different school that was controlled by Death Eaters. Luna helped Ginny and Neville with the D.A. and attempted to spread hope to the students. The three even attempted to steal the sword of Gryffindor but we’re caught by Professor Snape and were forced to serve detention. Her father did his part as well, printing stories in the Quibbler that supported Harry Potter. This, however, didn’t bode entirely well for Luna as she was taken from the Hogwarts Express on her way home for the Christmas Holidays. She was held in Malfoy Manor for several months until the eventual arrival of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Together, along with Ollivander, Griphook and Dean Thomas, the group escaped to Shell Cottage. While there Luna practiced using her new wand and eventually returned to Hogwarts in time for the Final Battle. During the battle, Luna helped Harry gain entrance into the Ravenclaw common room, stunned Alecto Carrow, and helped to drive off a group of Dementors.
